Pre-launch

European independent music, finally findable for sync.

MOTIF SYNC turns artist identity into a structured signal, then makes the catalog searchable by what listeners actually feel — with rights surfaced before the conversation starts.

The platform

One platform. Two products. The same gap.

European independent artists are systematically missed by music supervisors searching for sync placements. The catalog is too large, the metadata too thin, the rights too opaque. The result: European indie loses placements that should be theirs by right of fit. MOTIF SYNC closes that loop with two products that share one signal.

Product 01 · Motif

Artist identity, validated by dialogue.

Most onboarding tools ask the artist what they think their brand is. MOTIF inverts that. An AI dialogue presents archetype hypotheses based on existing work and audience signal; the artist reacts, refines, accepts. The output is a structured identity record — archetype, voice, visual direction, sync-relevant tags — that drives EPK, social, and brand assets automatically.

Product 02 · SyncFinder

Catalog, made searchable by feeling.

SYNCFINDER picks up where MOTIF's signal ends. Music supervisors describe briefs in plain language — "a song for a coming-of-age scene set on the Baltic coast at dusk." The platform searches the European independent catalog by audio features, audience description, and verified metadata, and returns a shortlist where master and publishing rights are pre-checked.

Timing

Three forces converging in 2026.

01 · Market

Rights opacity is a deal-breaker.

Music supervisors report 30–50% of attractive tracks dropped late because rights can't be cleared in time. Independent catalog suffers most — the people doing the discovery aren't the people with answers about the splits. The industry is ready for a rights-transparent layer that surfaces problems before they become deal-killers.

02 · Demand

Audiovisual demand is structural, not cyclical.

European AV production is growing — driven by streamer commissioning quotas, public broadcaster mandates, and a rebuilt indie film ecosystem. All of it needs music, on real budgets. Eastern and Central European catalog is criminally under-represented in the placements that result.

03 · Policy

EU compliance is no longer a tax.

GDPR, the DSM Copyright Directive, the Digital Services Act, and the AI Act create both an obligation and an opening: a compliant, EU-built discovery layer is a competitive position, not a cost. Non-EU competitors will be slower to adapt — and AV producers working on EU-financed productions increasingly need them to be.

Workflow

Three steps. One signal that runs through all of them.

Step 01 · Identity

Identity, validated by dialogue.

An artist starts with a 15-minute AI dialogue. The system proposes archetype hypotheses based on existing work and audience signal; the artist reacts, accepts, or rejects. The result is a structured brand record — not a questionnaire output, an actual identity.

Step 02 · Index

Catalog, indexed by feeling.

Tracks are indexed by three signals fused into one searchable layer: audio features extracted from the master, a compliant audience-NLP read of platform signals, and verified track and artist metadata. What gets searched is not just "indie folk, 110 BPM" — it's "the song that makes you feel like the night is about to start."

Step 03 · Match

Match, with rights cleared upfront.

Sync supervisors describe briefs in plain language. The platform returns a shortlist where master and publishing rights are pre-verified, and territory restrictions are surfaced before outreach. A clean handover, not a chase.

Audience

Four entry points. One platform.

For · Artists

A brand spine, then a discovery layer.

Get an identity you can defend in 15 minutes, then become findable to the supervisors who would have placed you if they'd known you existed. EPK, social plan, and brand assets are downstream of one validated dialogue.

For · Labels & publishers

Catalog you own, finally surfaced by signal.

Make your roster searchable by sync-relevant feeling, not just metadata. Surface tracks that fit briefs you don't yet see, in a workflow your supervisors will actually use.

For · Music supervisors

Stop assembling shortlists from memory.

Search the European independent catalog by feel, not by genre tag. See master and publishing status before you reach out. Get a curated preview cohort during launch.

For · AV producers

Music that fits the story, without the licensing tail.

Source from a European indie catalog with transparent rights and EU compliance built in. Right for cross-border productions where rights opacity is now a budget risk.

Regulation & funding

Built for Creative Europe, built on EU rules.

MOTIF SYNC was designed against the CREA-CROSS-2026-INNOVLAB priorities, and against the regulatory floor every European platform now stands on. Compliance isn't a feature we add later — it's the architectural premise.

Creative Europe priority alignment

  • Priority 2 — Rights management & fair remuneration. SyncFinder makes rights status first-class data, not an afterthought.
  • Priority 3 — Data analysis for audience development. Our compliant audience-NLP layer turns under-used signals into discovery.
  • Cross-sectoral — Music × Audiovisual. Structural, not bolted on. The platform is designed against an AV-first sync workflow, with rights and territory surfaced before outreach.

Compliance stack

GDPR · default DSM Copyright Directive DSA Art. 40 EU AI Act

No third-country data export at the data plane. EU-hosted infrastructure. Rights status modeled as first-class data, opt-out signals respected. Research access pathway with a vetted academic partner. Transparent, auditable models with human-in-the-loop on identity validation.
